Position: IT Intern
Great internship opportunity for a current college student or college graduate with a background in IT support and who is passionate about technology.
The internship position starts immediately and continues through May. 20 hours a week minimum.
Reports to: Head of Services
Details/Opportunities:

Position: Systems Engineer
Varsity Technologies (http://www.varsitytechnologies.com) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing technology services team. We are looking for energetic individuals who possess at least three years' experience providing IT engineering, design, and support services for mid-sized business networks, servers, and applications.
Reports To: VP, Services
As a Systems Engineer, you will:
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of support staff supporting our clients.
- Act as a senior level, tier 3, point of escalation for more advanced issues.
- Develop procedures for managing a wide array of systems, applications, and infrastructure.
- Oversee scheduled maintenance and review reports for presentation to clients.
- Research solutions and propose designs for client IT environments.
- Serve clients by supporting their staff through technical support and education.
- Meet internal and client SLA’s and provide reporting using internal CRM.
- Manage the network monitoring system including development and implementation of new policies.
- Collaborate with your peers and the client on the effective use of technology.
- Not settle for “it’s good enough” solutions.
You need to be able to:
- Manage multiple tasks and issues.
- Respond to automated alerts within a given service level.
- Analyze client systems and make recommendations for improvements.
- Manage the response and resolution of support requests.
- Configure firewalls, wireless access points, and other network devices.
- Deploy and configure windows servers in physical and virtual environments.
- Design and implement backup and DR solutions.
Do you have experience with these technologies?
- Network monitoring and policy management (SNMP and WMI)
- Windows 2008 Server technologies
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Server virtualization technologies (VMWare, Citrix Xen, Microsoft Hyper-V)
- Messaging platforms and protocols (SMTP, Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007/2010)
- Firewalls and VPN
- Network technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, wireless, etc)
- Backup solutions (D2T, D2D2T, and offsite backup using various software)
- Voice over IP
- Cloud applications and services
We would like:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience in a customer facing role
Current IT certifications are considered but not required
Requirements:
At least three years of experience in a similar role.

As a Desktop Support Specialist, you will:
- Provide support services to customers throughout the Bay Area
- Research and verify technical solutions and provide workaround solutions where appropriate
- Respond to and resolve client technical issues expeditiously and professionally
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of customer systems
- Escalate issues to senior support staff when appropriate
- Work with internal and external technical staff and vendors
- Test and document desktop support utilities and applications
- Track all tasks and time entries daily in company CRM
- Not settle for “it’s good enough” solutions.
- Learn new technologies and applications.
You need to be able to:
