About the Position 

Varsity is looking for a Network Engineer with systems experience to join our team. This exciting and challenging job opportunity will involve the design, development, implementation and troubleshooting of complex networks. This is a highly client-facing position, so we are looking for someone who has very strong customer service and client management skills.

Duties Include: 

Design 

  • Pre-sales engineering tasks including supporting the sales team, recommending vendor solutions and products, creating and reviewing scopes of work
  • Work with clients to assess and identify requirements, needs, and issues.
  • Document needs in a requirements document as necessary.
  • Create a design document that includes high level and technical designs for physical and logical networks.
  • Create specifications document for network hardware, cable plant infrastructure, and applications and systems that require access to the network.
  • Meet with consulting team to review and gather feedback on the design.
  • Research solutions as necessary to address the client’s requirements.
  • Develop designs for local area networks, VLANs, wireless networks, routing (WAN), and network security.

Planning and Development

  • Create planning and implementation guides for use by network implementation team and for review by client.

  • Work directly with project manager to develop project schedule, tasks, milestones, and client deliverables. 

  • Review implementation plan with client.

Implementation 

  • Configure and install wireless networks using Cisco technologies (LWAPP and Wireless controllers)
  • Configure and install Cisco firewalls. 
  • Configure and install Sonicwall and Juniper firewalls.
  • Configure and install Cisco routers and switches.
  • Support the VoIP engineer on the installation of VoIP network infrastructure.
  • Design, manage, and troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Manage and support Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003.

Troubleshooting 

  • Perform troubleshooting on complex networks.
  • Work with other consulting and operations support staff to report issues and problems.
  • Track service requests in the case management system. 

Documentation 

  • Create project documentation as needed and defined on projects.

Training 

  • Create user training documents as needed.
  • Provide high level, user, and administrator training on new technologies implemented.

Education or experience: Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum 5 years hands-on experience working with Cisco and other networking technologies. Consulting experience required. CCNP certification strongly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on experience configuring Cisco ASA firewalls including VPNs
  • Designing complex multi-building campus LANs
  • Experience configuring router ACLs
  • Troubleshoot LAN errors and performance problems
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco UC and CME highly desirable

Business Skills: 

  • Excellent customer service and customer management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to manage several projects simultaneously with few mistakes and complete them on time

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism with customers, vendors, and staff

Other: 

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • This position requires travel throughout the Bay Area. Candidate must provide own transportation and proof of insurance.
  • Because of our work with K-12 schools, a background check is required.

About the Position

Reporting to the CEO, the Full Charge Bookkeeper will be responsible for a range of accounting duties. Understanding of general accounting principles and bookkeeping practices is required.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and reconcile A/P and A/R
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Record and reconcile payroll
  • Work with CEO or CPA on as-needed basis to record sales tax and prepare sales tax return
  • Record cost of goods sold, expenses and inventory
  • Produce various reports as needed
  • Provide daily cash position reports
  • Prepare basic financial statements
  • Invoice customers for goods and services
  • Process inventory sales transactions
  • Handle financial reconciliation of projects
  • Review service requests for accuracy before invoicing
  • Process reimbursements
  • Manage and maintain physical and electronic files
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Update information with financial vendors
  • Communicate with clients on past-due invoices/handle collections
  • Work with CEO to enhance or improve existing policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements/Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance and/or relevant work experience
  • 4 years experience in accounting/bookkeeping
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Pro
  • Industry experience a plus (for example, experience with an Information Technology business, consulting or other services business, education or non-profit organization, or small/medium-sized business)
  • Ability to demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible
  • Outstanding customer service and customer management skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Self-starter--ability to accomplish goals with minimal direction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Marketing Intern -- Green Technology Solutions (Part-time)

Compensation: Monthly stipend of $150.00

Varsity Technologies is seeking a motivated self-starter for the position of Marketing Intern to help get the word out about our innovative Green Technology solutions. This is an ideal situation for a student or recent college graduate seeking to gain valuable hands-on experience in the business world. The Marketing Intern will be mentored closely by the CEO and marketing team during the internship.

Internship Details:

The marketing internship will be focused around Varsity's Green Technology solutions. The intern will work closely with the CEO and marketing team to handle a range of functions including:

Corporate Communications

  • Research new and existing green technologies in the IT industry.
  • Write copy for public website on our Green Technology solutions.
  • Write case studies about the green technologies we have implemented at our client sites.
  • Draft HTML-based email promotions and other email communications to client base about our Green Technology solutions.
  • Develop in-house sales tools on our Green Technology solutions.

PR and Event Planning

  • Research and draft conference presentations on green technologies and our solutions.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of a high-profile co-marketing event with one of our clients around the green technologies we implemented for them.
  • Work with technology vendors and distributors regarding co-marketing opportunities at this event.
  • Draft a press release in conjunction with this event.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelors degree in business or marketing
  • 1 - 2 years of marketing experience a plus
  • Experience in the industry a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications required. Experience with Adobe Photoshop preferred.

Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent customer service skills. The Marketing Intern must maintain a high level of professionalism with customers, vendors, and staff.
